On texture, using all neutral fabrics and embellishments.
All sewn, no glue.
Anna Maria Island, Florida USA, March 11-17, 2010. Our big family vacation filled with treasured memories of ocean wonder and family joy.
36" square rag quilt made out of homespun fat quarters from a garage sale. It is now draped over the back of an antique rocking chair at daughter Jenni's house.
I love trying new things. I'm good at painting dots, but straight lines are a real challenge.
My first attempt at "snippets" quilt art. Based on a Kansas prairie landscape pastel.
Like painting with little fusable fabric scraps, held in place by warm iron and then machine stitched.
Sorting marbles with grandsons, ages 7 and 17!
The completed winter bag - a badge of courage, so to speak - for surviving the longest winter ever!
And here's the spring and summer yarn art bag. Made from micro fiber on sale yarn. Couldn't pass up all the colors.
Like painting with yarn - all the leftovers from socks as well as some ADOS (attention deficit ooooh shiny!) Later turned it into a bag and have enjoyed it all winter.
Youngest of 5 daughters of Quaker Mom and Danish Dad, MomWifeGrandma. Chaplain. My last position was offering spiritual support as a group facilitator in six different psychiatric populations. I loved my work, and miss it. But now I am spending much of my time playing with fibers, beads, bits and pieces of this and that. And looking at the world in a new way - infinity of art and beauty, color, texture and shape.
